Mr. Sock Monkey

Hello!  This card was made for our friends’ son’s first birthday.  The party was going to be a Sock Monkey theme, so of course I had to make a sock monkey card!
Jack's First Birthday
The monkey was created using a variety of punches, with the torso being cut using an oval nestabilites die.  The monkey is made with Soft Suede textured cardstock from SU, which I rubbed a white ink pad on and then stamped with a canvass type stamp using some dark brown ink to give it the look of textured material.  The white parts are Neenah natural cardstock stamped with some versamark (I think because the stamp was a bit dirty from the darker brown ink, the versamark turned a light brown colour when I stamped it).  I used my silhouette to cut the balloons, and I dipped the strings in some matte multi medium to get them to curl before I glued them to the card.  The patterned paper is from a provocraft pad that I bought at wal mart a long time ago.
In addition to the card, I also whipped up this bag for his gift, which was of course, a sock monkey (a miniature version, since he already had the big one).
Jack's First Birthday bag
I used circle and oval dies for the monkey on the bag.  I bought the plain bag in a pack at Wal Mart.  This is basically how I wrap all of my gifts now – with handmade bags that coordinate with my cards.  It’s so inexpensive and they seem to be much appreciated!
Thanks for stopping by!
Steph
