Challenge Attempt Part 2

Well wasn’t I pleasantly surprised when I read Kraftin’ Kimmie’s challenge blog last Saturday. I won blog candy on my first ever challenge entry! Beginners luck I say! This week’s challenge is to create a “mostly monochromatic” card. Well, here it is:

Kraftin Kimmie Challenge July 24 2010

For this card I used the gorgeous Posy from Kraftin’ Kimmie. She’s coloured using the W family of Copics – W00, W1, W3, W5, W7 and W9, along with R20 and R22. I used the “Tip to Tip Marker Technique” that I learned from Sherrie Siemens in a class of hers I took, but there’s a tutorial for it here. I cut her out with my Nestabilities and sponged around the circle with some Blush Blossom ink, the layer of grey cardstock in behind her was cut out using my MS circle cutter. It’s hard to tell, but she is popped up with some pop dots. The sentiment is from Kraftin’ Kimmie’s “Everyday Sentiments” and I cut it out with my MS tag punch (which I put a small hole in the top of and hung from my ribbon with a jump ring). The ribbon is from Wal-Mart. The cardstock is Stampin’ Up – Going Grey, Basic Grey, Basic Black and Blush Blossom. The glittery cardstock is from DCWV’s “The Glitter Stack”. The roses were made with Blush Blossom cardstock using Julie’s technique found here. I glued them to the ribbon with some Zip Dry.

All in all I’m pretty pleased with this card. I enjoyed colouring in the monochromatic greys, but I didn’t want the card to be dark and morbid. I think adding the pink helped to make it a bit more cheery. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

I’ve got a few more cards made that I’m excited to post in the next few days!

Later gator,
Steph
